The American Way, part 1

This sketch comes from 2000 where I came up with the first ever Marvel/DC What if/Eleworlds crossover where Superman were replaced in the DC Universe by Captain America.

The American Way was about Steven Roger Kent, the son of Jonathen and Martha Kent who was born 17 years before World War II...the same exact day that baby Kal-El was sent to Earth from the planet Krypton, where he would have been found by the Kents, but instead was found by someone...else.

Steven lied about his age to enter World War II, raised on repsect for the American flag and love for his country. Joining as a Private under the watchful eye of Sgt. Rock, Kent was chosen for the government's Super-Soldier program, becoming the ultimate soldier named Captain America.

While disarming a nuclear warhead laced witha strange, green warhead, Captain America was hurled into the depths of the frozen Atlantic, presumed dead by the world.

Decades later, Captain America was found and unfrozen in a state of suspended animation, finding the world to be a new and unusal place, costumed heroes becoming less of a rarity and making the world a better place.

Among these heroes, Captain America felt a deep connection to the heroes of the Justice League. he found a partner in the one named Batman. A friend in the Martain Manhunter. Even something strong in the spirit of Wonder Woman. Together, the team soon re-named itself the Justice League of America in respect to their new leader. Finally, Steven Roger Kent finally felt like he has found a place to call home.

But when a man named Lex Luthor returns to Metropolis, Captain America's hometown, he brings with him a deadly secret in the shape of his bodyguard...a bodyguard simply named "Kal".
